"Data Breach via Malware on IoT"

On 7th March 2018, the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) conducted its annual drill to test the response capability of leading Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) within the Asia Pacific economies.

The theme of this year's APCERT Drill is “Data Breach via Malware on IoT". This exercise reflects real incidents and issues that exist on the Internet. The scenario, for this year, simulated an attack on the medical sector where the initial compromised was followed with exfiltration of data and infection of IoT devices within the medical sector.

MOCERT was pleased to be involved in the drill. This is MOCERT's 7th year participating in the event, which enables MOCERT to evaluate and improve incident management capabilities and strengthen cross-border collaboration. MOCERT participated in the drill as a player to cope with incidents and as an observer to facilitate drill coordination.

This type of event pulls resources from across the Asia Pacific region, coordinating and uniting the CSIRTS/CERTS of different economies on a given task for a cleaner and safer internet.
